STEPANAKERT. - The heroic army of Nagorno-Karabakh has carried out the order of the commander-in-chief with honor, Karabakh President Bako Sahakyan stated at a press-conference held in Stepanakert Thursday.

Sahakyan presented the developments of the dramatic events of the recent days.

According to him, at 01:15 am on April 2 information was received that the adversary had begun movement. Sahakyan held a consultation with the heads of power structures, specifically  Defense Army Commander Levon Mnatsakanyan, Chief of Police Kamo Aghajanyan and Chief of National Security Service Arshavir Gharamyan.

“Since we had been under active fire recently, the adversary’s movement was perceived as a usual preparation to local actions, and we arranged our actions accordingly,” Sahakyan said. Nevertheless, the Commander returned to his office for additional checking.

“Azerbaijan moved to a large-scale offensive operation at 03:00 am, which didn’t give the Armenian side the opportunity to correctly assess the situation and use all the means available,” Sahakyan said.

Thereafter, according to the president, once he arrived at the command observation point, order was given not to defend, but prevent the actions of the adversary, eliminating the manpower and equipment. Sahakyan noted that the hero soldiers, officer staff and volunteers carried out this order with honor.
