Russia not only doesn’t withdraw its part of responsibility to ensure the process of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict normalization, but also participates in it as diligently as possible, Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev said the aforementioned in Baku on Friday.

“The role of Russia is evident, since we are [OSCE] Minsk Group members and Co-Chairs, and we have never withdrawn our responsibility. Once this happened, [Russian] president immediately phoned both [Azerbaijani] President Aliyev and [Armenian] President Sargsyan, expressing our stance and urging the sides to calm down, return to the bargaining table, start consultations and declare truce. Apparently, these efforts were continued…That’s why we not only don’t withdraw our part of responsibility to ensure smooth process of normalization, but also participate in it as diligently as possible,” Medveded told journalists during his visit to Baku.

According to him, Azerbaijan and Baku aim to normalize the existing discrepancies and resolve the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

 “The important thing is that currently I have managed to ascertain that both countries, leaders of the two countries aim to maximally observe the ceasefire, try to resolve the existing discrepancies, conflict and all the sad repercussions of what has happened quite recently at the bargaining table. I hope they will follow these approaches also in the future,” the Russia PM said, RIA Novosti reports.
