Armenia has and continues to urge the Russian Federation not to sell weapons to Azerbaijan, which uses them to kill the civilian population.

Armenian PM Hovik Abrahamyan told the aforementioned to journalists on Saturday after the funeral of three soldiers in the city of Gyumri.

“It would be good if they don’t sell [those weapons], but it’s their business, it’s up to them. We have and continue to urge not to sell weapons, and we have also told them about our negative attitude to this. Russia is our strategic ally, but our people are upset by the fact that Russia sells weapons to the aggressor Azerbaijan. This is bad, since Azerbaijan uses those weapons to kill civilian population, old people, children and pupils,” Abrahamyan said.

In an interview with Russian media outlets, Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev referred to the Russia’s sale of weapons to Azerbaijan, saying: “So, if we imagine for a moment that Russia has abandoned this role, we understand that nature abhors a vacuum. They will buy weapons in other countries and this will not make these weapons any less lethal. But at the same time, this can to a certain degree disrupt the balance that exists now, as we understand our partners’ needs and everyone understands the lineup of forces in the region. Therefore, I am not sure that the advent of other arms suppliers to this market will help improve the situation. I believe this situation will most likely become even more complicated.”
