YEREVAN. – The Armenian side had 19 missing during the four-day war at the Karabakh-Azerbaijan Line of Contact. The bodies of 18 missing were handed over to the Armenian side, but the fate one soldier remains unknown.
Viktor Kocharyan, Head of the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic State Commission for Prisoners of War [(POWs)], Captives and Missing People, on Sunday told the aforesaid to Armenian News-NEWS.am.
“Through the International Committee of the Red Cross, we likewise handed over the bodies of the dead to the Azerbaijani side,” Kocharyan said. “And today, the bodies of 18 dead were handed over to us. [But] the fate of one [Armenian] military serviceman is unknown; work is underway to find out his fate.
“By the way, I should note that shots were fired from the Azerbaijani side during the exchange of the bodies of the dead; the Red Cross representatives also have recorded this.”
