Christian Engelhardt, Governor of Bergstraße Kreis (district) of Germany, told Bergsträßer Anzeiger newspaper that he is following with concern the latest developments in Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh), a partner of Bergstraße.

“Poor access from the outside world, not having access to the sea, and the only airport [i.e. in Karabakh’s capital city Stepanakert] that is inoperative for political reasons show what obstacles the 145,000 [Armenian] Karabakhtsis are dealing with in the fight against the huge neighbor [i.e. Azerbaijan],” Engelhardt said.

The newspaper noted that, ever since 1991, the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) consistently runs a balanced policy to maintain peace and stability in the South Caucasus.

“Moreover, the wish to pacifically resolve the regional difficulties and conflicts is in first place for them,” the governor of Bergstraße Kreis stressed. “We hope that they will succeed.”
