The present-day conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh has not led to any radical political changes, well-known Russian political scientist Sergey Markedonov stated at Tuesday’s respective videoconference.

In his words, even though the armed violence escalated, all status issues remain hanging in the air, and the Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) was not recognized. 

“The [Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE)] Minsk process is maintained (…); this format has not disappeared,” Markedonov added. “The escalation occurred, but it did not result in any tough political implications.”
