Syrian citizens have been actively participating in parliamentary elections since early morning on April 13. According to the Syrian state news agency SANA, all 7,300 polling stations opened at the set hour - 07.00. The messages on high voter turnout are received from all provinces.
About 3,500 candidates from different political parties and public organizations apply for 250 seats in new National council (parliament) of the Syrian Arab Republic.
The highest judicial committee on elections of Syria has made the decision that citizens of provinces Idlib, Rakk, Aleppo, Deir ez-Zor, Daraa -- where active operations against terrorist groups continue -- can express the position on the polling stations which are specially opened for them in other regions: Damascus, Hama, Latakia, Tartus, Suveyda, Hasaka.
Voting will last till 19:00 local time (21.00 Yerevan time). If necessary, according to the legislation, the work of polling stations can be prolonged till midnight.
