During the aggression which Azerbaijan unleashed on April 2, the permission to commit mass crimes was received from the highest leadership of this country.
Davit Babayan, Nagorno-Karabakh Republic (NKR/Artsakh) Presidential Spokesperson, stated the aforesaid, and responding to Armenian News-NEWS.am’s query with respect to the Azerbaijani side’s attempts to deny the reports on ridiculing the bodies of the dead Armenian soldiers and civilians.
To the question as to whether the Azerbaijani authorities need to at least immediately start an investigation into these reports, Babayan responded: “The Azerbaijani authorities will not take that step, since they [i.e. the Azerbaijani army divisions] received [the respective] permission from the highest-level officials.”
In this context, he noted that what occurred violates not solely the international humanitarian law and the Geneva Conventions, but the ethical human precepts.
“And this is the image of the Azerbaijani leadership, which does not even try to conduct an investigation,” Davit Babayan added. “But we need to recall that such inhuman persons can’t defend the homeland. Such an army is doomed to failure.”
