On September 26, Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian met with UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon in New York.

The UN Secretary General highly appreciated Armenia’s role in implementation of UN goals and participation in the summit, dedicated to the Millennium Development Goals, the RA Foreign Ministry press service informed NEWS.am.

Edward Nalbandian presented the recent developments in the Karabakh peace process. Ban Ki-moon stressed he favors the idea of withdrawing snipers from the line of contact of Armenian and Azerbaijani armed forces, According to him, it will considerably strengthen the ceasefire. Nalbandian concurred with him and expressed hope Azerbaijan will also accept the proposal, which was repeatedly voiced.

The Foreign Minister also presented Ban Ki-moon the Armenia-Turkey normalization process. Nalbandian expressed UN Secretary General his gratitude for the support in the process.
