YEREVAN. - The total receipts from the export of jewelry items reduced in 2015, their average price dramatically rising, the statistical data of Armenia’s foreign trade published by the State Revenue Committee (SRC) reads.

If 6 tons 75 kg jewelry items at the cost of about $23.5 mln were exported in 2014, in 2014 the export included only 824 kg, costing about $18,7 mln. That is, in terms of kilogram, the cost increased from $3.9 thousand to $22.6 thousand.

This may be due to the possible reduction of silver item production: in 2015 the import of silver (material, not ready-made items) to the republic declined from 2208 to 7216 kg. Consequently, the Armenian jewelers could have re-orientated to gold. Together with this, the import of commodity gold also dropped from 3553 to 635 kg.

Turkmenistan and United Arab Emirates (UAE) have remained the largest export markets (nearly $9.7 mln and $3.8 mln respectively). However, the export to the UAE has dropped nearly by 20 percent. Export to another two important markets – Russia (almost twice, up to about $1 million) and Thailand (almost twice, up to $692 thousand) -  also dramatically declined. The export to Kazakhstan decreased less – by 14 percent, up to about 1.4 mln. The export to Belarus constituted $439 thousand (has slightly raised).

The export to Turkey has increased thrice (from $100 to 307 thousand).

Another important market is the U.S. ($556 thousand, slightly less than in 2014).
