YEREVAN. - First Deputy Defense Minister Davit Tonoyan on Monday met with Günter Bechler, Special Representative for the South Caucasus of the German Chairmanship at the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE).

The sides discussed issues related to the large-scale actions unleashed by Azerbaijan against Karabakh and the current situation on the Line of Contact.

Tonoyan briefed Bechler on the military actions in the period from April 2 to 5, the ensuing situation on the Line of Contact, as well as the war crimes committed by the Azerbaijani armed forces against the Armenian servicemen and civilians. According to the Armenian Deputy Defense Minister, the Armenian side will initiate corresponding process for receiving international legal assessment of the aforementioned crimes.

It was especially stressed that currently the Azerbaijani side violates the oral ceasefire agreement, this resulting in casualties and wounded on the Armenian side also after the aforementioned agreement.

 

 

The role of the OSCE in weakening the tension, as well as strengthening of ceasefire through introduction of monitoring and incident investigation mechanisms was also stressed at the meeting.
