The police detained dozens of LGBT activists in Tbilisi for painting the administrative buildings, including the patriarchy building, in rainbow colors, Georgia Online reports.

The detention took place in the framework of the Code on Administrative Offences, which provides for punishment for causing harm, as well as offering resistance to the law enforcement officers.

During an action in defense of the rights of LGBT community on 17 May 2013, clashes took place between the activists and event organizers, among which were clergy representatives.

May 17 marks the International Day Against Homophobia.
