YEREVAN. - President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan visited Tigran Petrosian Chess House in Yerevan Saturday. There he watched the Round 7 meetings of the 16th European Championship of Chess Veterans.

Two age groups - ages 50-65 and 65 and above – take part in the Championship.  The games, which will last for nine days, are held by Swiss contest rules. Nearly 100 chess players from 18 countries are taking part in the contest this year.

There are 10 grandmasters and 10 international masters, as well as 3 women grandmasters and international masters among the championship teams. World’s 5th Women Chess Champion Nona Gaprindashvili and Armenian chess legend Rafael Vahanyan are also taking part in the European Championship.
