Google has filed a lawsuit to the EU Antitrust Commission against Nokia and Microsoft, writes The Wall Street Journal. The cause for the lawsuit is the agreement that the Microsoft and Nokia had signed with the Canadian Mosaid Technologies, as a result of which the Mosaid received the right to use 200 patents and patent applications in the union .
The Canadian company is not engaged in software development. The main activities of the company are focused on patents’ sales and intellectual property rights protection. Therefore, Mosaid has been called Google’s "patent troll ." Google is concerned that Mosaid will bring a suit against producers of the Android. It may affect the costs of the phones, due to which the users will not be using Android in favor of Windows Phone.
Microsoft representatives said that Google also preserves the rights on " important" patents and , in their words, controls 95 percent of the market and advertising.
