The UN Security Council has called on the South Sudan to stop clashes and prevent the spread of violence . The Security Council issued a statement condemning the recent conflicts in the region and expressed a resentment at the attacks on the UN facilities . According to the statement, there will be sent peacekeepers to Sudan, reports the BBC .

On Friday night a shooting had occurred in the South Sudanese capital Juba. The media reported that the clashes were between the president Salva Kiir and  vice president Rieka Machari. They are old political opponents . After that, there started armed clashes in the city, where heavy weapons and artillery was applied. The fights were stopped on Saturday, whereas resumed on Sunday.

The South Sudan has become independent since 2011 . Previously, there were long years of civil war in that region. Civil wars broke out again in 2013. In 2014 the parities signed a contract to stop military operations. However, the conflict was not resolved .
