Russian President Vladimir Putin called the meeting with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdoğan constructive.

At a press conference following the talks in Konstantonovsky Palace of Russia’s Strelna municipality, Putin stressed that this meeting was significant in terms of the further fate of the Russian-Turkish relations.

 “A meaningful, and I’d like to stress, constructive talk on the entire scope of the bilateral ties, as well as the international agenda took place,” Putin said.

Russia is going to gradually cancel the restrictions introduced against the Turkish after the downing of the Russian Su-24 fighter jet by Turkey, the Russian President noted.   

“We mean the gradual cancellation of the special economic measures, the restrictions, introduced earlier against the Turkish companies,” noted Putin.

He also said that the political decisions on the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) and Turkish Stream projects have been adopted by the Turkish leadership.

Ankara has presented security guarantees to the tourists from Russia, and thus “we’ll think of resuming the charter flights”, the President stated.

In his words, Russia and Turkey share a common understanding of the issues of fighting terrorism.
