The Azerbaijani authorities have begun a special operation against fortunetellers.

Regional offices of the State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations on Tuesday conducted inspections against fortunetellers in the Ujar and Shamakhi Rayons, according to Trend news agency of Azerbaijan.

Fortunetellers Malahat Gafarova and Sveta Ismailova were questioned during the inspections.

They were warned that if they had acquired property by way of illegal activities, this will lead to administrative and criminal liability.

The women said they regret their deeds and will no longer engage in this activity.
