The researchers from the University of Washington have found out that that there are two months every year when divorce spikes - March and August, according to Informing.

According to statistics, married couples in Washington most often file for divorce after the Christmas and summer holidays.

Researcher Julie Brines has found out that the Christmas and winter holidays are considered a kind of taboo for divorces, since families believe that they have a chance to save their relationship during these holidays.

Couples split up primarily in August so that they would have more time, as of September, to spend the beginning of the new school year with their kids.

At the same time, the researchers have observed that a large number of suicides are committed in the spring, and this could be due to longer daylight and increased activity.

In all likelihood, these same factors also impact the decision on divorcing.
