YEREVAN. - The prosecutors' salaries should be increased when possible.

Deputy Prosecutor General of Armenia Artur Davtyan, who has been nominated as the next Prosecutor General of the country, on Tuesday noted the aforesaid in Parliament.

In his words, 337 of the republic's prosecutors are overloaded. And the prosecutors' work, whch is hard and responsible, is worth what the taxpayers pay. ''Of course, the prosecutors should meet their minimal social needs. And in the future - the country's socioeconomic situation permitting - I will come up with a proposal to further improve the conditions for the prosecutors,'' Davtyan said.  

Currently, the prosecutors' salary starts from 264,000 AMD (approx. $550).
