“Vor v zakone” Armen Kazarian, nicknamed Pzo, the head of the arrested Armenian gang is the citizen of U.S., Armenian Police informed NEWS.am.

The police representative said that Kazarian has never been prosecuted when he lived in Armenia. The U.S. side has not appealed to the Armenian police for information concerning Pzo neither before nor after his arrest.

As NEWS.am reported earlier, Armenian criminals and their associates used phantom health care clinics and other means to try to cheat Medicare out of $163 million, the largest fraud by one criminal enterprise in the program’s history. The operation was under the protection of an Armenian crime boss Armen Kazaryan. He was also among the first arrestees in Los Algeles.

Earlier, Armenian Foreign Ministry expressed regret over Armenian citizens’ involvement in the crimes in the U.S. health care system. “We may only express regret that Armenian citizens have been involved in medical fraud crimes, according to the published information,” Press Secretary of Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan.
