YEREVAN. – Priority of the strategic program designed  for IT development for the next four years is rebranding of the country or progress in IT sector, deputy head  of Armenia's IT enterprises union said.

The directions designed by the Union of Information Technology Enterprises (UITE) in Armenia for the development of IT sector include promotion of entrepreneurship and modernization of the education system to counter new challenges.

“It is not about the number of IT companies and corporations, but ongoing educational programs, which are prepared to train professionals to obtain skills necessary for this market,” Amarket”, Hayk Chobanyan said.

The expert believes that Armenia has to have an ambitious strategy aimed at the development of IT that will be a part of the government program.

“Fortunately, the current transitional program is designed for a few months. From now we will start  the process of developing a new IT strategy, and will present it for discussion in several months,” he added.
