The UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon welcomed the new peace agreement between the Colombian government and the Revolutionary Armed Forces. The new document includes changes and adjustments, introduces by various social groups, including those who in October referendum voted against the agreement with the Revolutionary Forces.

Ban Ki-moon stressed that during the talks the Columbians were able to listen to each other and unite around the peace efforts. The UN Secretary-General also welcomed the fact that the parties preserve the ceasefire. He confirmed that the UN will thereby continue supporting the peace process in Colombia.
