YEREVAN. – Armenia is one step ahead of Azerbaijan in terms of relations with the European Union (EU).

Armen Ashotyan, Chairman of the Standing Committee on Foreign Relations of the National Assembly of Armenia, on Friday told the aforesaid to reporters at parliament.

He added that Armenia has initialed the Comprehensive and Enhanced Partnership Agreement with the EU, and this means the country is at least one year ahead of Azerbaijan in relations with the EU.

“Azerbaijan [on the other hand] is still negotiating for cooperation with its new legal format,” Ashoyan added.

He recalled that Armenian Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian had confirmed that the above-said agreement definitely will be signed.

This document is expected to be signed this fall.
