“The WikiLeaks-published cables concerning Turkish - Azerbaijani relations are not new for the experts, including me. I have repeatedly stated that Azerbaijan is not as important for Turkey as it demonstrates it,” Turkish studies expert Ruben Safrastyan told the journalists today.
It is also known that Azerbaijan does not treat Turkey as its elder brother regardless of statements it makes. Both states have their interests and one should not expect crucial changes on the Turkish-Azerbaijani relations, he added. Disclosure of the documents concerning Turkey’s domestic policy is much more important. For instance, reports on Premier Erdogan’s involvement in bribery scandal were of much significance, Safrastyan concluded.
