On December 5, three Turkish football fans were hospitalized with knife injuries after clashes prior to a premier league match between Turkish football clubs Besiktas and defending champion Bursaspor in Istanbul. The Dec. 5 match game ended in a 1-0 win for Besiktas.
Besiktas fans threw seats and bottles to break through a police cordon and attack Bursaspor supporters, Reuters reports.
The fans blame Besiktas for their side’s relegation to the second division in 2003 after the latter played badly against another team facing possible relegation.
