On December 7, Armenian delegation headed by Foreign Minister Edward Nalbandian participated in the 11th session of Armenia-EU Cooperation Council in Brussels.

Hungarian Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Zsolt Nemeth and European Commissioner for Enlargement and Neighborhood Policy Stefan Fule represented the European delegation, RA Foreign Office press service informed NEWS.am.

The sides exchanged opinions on the intensification of the bilateral political dialogue, talks on Armenia-EU association agreement, creation of a free trade zone and facilitation of visa regime.

Edward Nalbandian expressed hope the association agreement will strengthen contractual underpinnings between Armenia and EU ad will give new impetus to the development of bilateral cooperation in energy, transportation and ecological spheres.

The officials also put high value on facilitation of visa requirements for citizens of Armenia and EU and stressed the talks are underway on the issue.

Mr. Nemeth stressed the European sides intends to step up efforts to promote cooperation with Armenia.

Armenian FM presented EU diplomats the recent developments in the Karabakh peace process. Zsolt Nemeth emphasized EU backs peaceful resolution to the Karabakh conflict within Minsk Group. In his turn, EU Commissioner Stefan Fule underscored skirmishes, increasing the tension the situation in line of contact are unacceptable. The high-ranking officials stressed European Union welcomes the five-sided statement on Karabakh conflict resolution in Astana.

As for Armenia-Turkey rapprochement, the European side reiterated its position on the ratification and implementation of Protocols without any preconditions.
