The Georgian BP representative gave details on the pipeline sabotage.
According to the company, oil spill was reported near Erzurum. The company “Botas”, which is in charge of the Turkish segment of the pipeline, disseminated the information.
“The company “Botas” asked us to stop the oil flow. According to them, an attempted of oil theft was made near Erzurum,” explained the representative of BP office in Georgia. In their statement, a special commission has lunched an investigation.
As reported earlier NEWS.am, representatives of the Ministry of Energy of Turkey and British BP said yesterday that pumping of oil through the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline suspended because of the damage during the sabotage.
Sabotage occurred on the night of, December 6.
The incident has not affected oil production and exports, said the spokesman for BP in Turkey Murat Lecompte (Murat Lecompte).
