All the facts of the events in Yerevan on March 1, 2008, will be made known only after a change of power in Armenia, Aram Karapetyan, Chairman of the New Times Party, told NEWS.am. As regards his appraisal of the work by the ad hoc parliamentary commission for the March 1 events, Karapetyan said that, despite his two-month absence from Armenia, he examined all the materials.

“The Commission has not provided the answers to a number of important questions:

  1. who issued an order to fire at people?
  2. was an official or an unofficial staff working under Robert Kocharyan?
  3. who were staff members?
  4. did groups illegally formed by oligarchs really act?

Karapetyan also said that, after the dissolved fact-finding group presented its report, the ad hoc commission was obliged to invite and ask questions to Parliament Speaker Hovik Abramyan, as well as Gagik Tsarukyan, Samvel Alexanyan, Robert Kocharyan, Levon Ter-Petrosyan and Serzh Sargsyan.

”We had been told all these persons were to be invited and interrogated. However, after the ex-chief of Armenian Police Hayk Harutyunyan arrived, an order was issued not to invite anybody," Karapetyan said.
