The U.N. General Assembly has deferred consideration of Draft Resolution Concerning Observance of International Human Rights Law in ‘Occupied Territories of Azerbaijan.

According to the information on the U.N. website, “acting on a request by Azerbaijan, the General Assembly decided today to defer to its sixty-fifth session consideration of a draft resolution on ‘Observance of international law and international human rights law in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan’.”

It is not for the first time that the U.N. General Assembly has deferred the consideration.

Official Baku stated it decided in favor of deferral at the OSCE Minsk Group Co-Chairs’ request. The mediators explained that the consideration might affect the negotiations.

Official Yerevan has repeatedly stated that the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict must be settled within the OSCE Minsk Group.
