Member of Israeli Knesset, Head of the political party “New Movement Meretz” Haim Oron (71), the founder of Armenia-Israel Inter-parliamentary Friendship Group and a vocal supporter of the Armenian Genocide recognition has decided to abandon politics in several months, Nouvelles dArménie reports.

Oron was one of the founders of “Peace Now”, he served as a Chairman of Committee of Finance and Minister of Agriculture in 1999. He was one of the leaders of Geneva initiative to settle Israeli-Palestinian conflict. He is a close friend of Marwan Barghouti, now serving five life sentence in an Israeli prison.
