The latest developments in the Arab world require drawing some parallels with Armenia, Manvel Badeyan, a member of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA), told journalists Jan. 31.

A social riot is an emotional outburst that may occur even in developed countries in the fairest social conditions. However, any parallels with the Arab world are illogical for the simple reason that Armenians and not Arabs. "Similar developments cannot be ruled out in Armenia, but no riot has produced positive results. The probability of such developments in Armenia is negligible," Badeyan said.

Speaking of the Armenian shuttle traders` protests, as well as the Yerevan Municipality`s decision prohibiting street trading, Badeyan said that their demands are evidence of lack of knowledge.

"People should rely on law. As regards prohibition of street trading, I welcome the decision," he said.
