A meeting with UN Resident Coordinator, Ms. Dafina Gercheva, was held at the representative office of Rossotrudnichestvo (Russian Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States, Compatriots Living Abroad and International Humanitarian Cooperation) in Armenia January 31. The meeting was held on Ms. Dafina Gercheva`s initiative.
The participants discussed prospects of mutually beneficial cooperation, elaboration and implementation of joint projects.
The UN Resident Representative informed the participants of the activities carried out in Armenia by the UN office and UN agencies.
Head of the Rossotrudnichestvo office in Armenia, Advisor to the Russian Embassy Viktor Krivopuskov informed the participants of the office`s activities aimed at developing Armenian-Russian scientific, technical, educational and humanitarian cooperation, preserving national historical and cultural values.
He cited the example of the UN-implemented School Meals projects in Armenia, with Russia being major donor.
The meeting discussed ways of transferring the project management functions to the Armenian government agencies in the course of time.
The participants also discussed the organization of commemoration of the 50th anniversary of the first space flight by Yuri Gagarin and the 70th anniversary of the outbreak of the Great Patriotic War, other memorable events.
