“There is no point in expecting unbiased report from RA Ad-hoc Committee on March 1-2, 2008 events comprising political forces’ members. There is no absolute objective category,” Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan told the journalists.
If the Committee consists of non-leading political forces, the report would have been of another content, Harutyunyan noted. The Ombudsman also accused RA National Assembly Vice-Speaker and the Chairman of the Committee Samvel Nikoyan of lying. A day before, the latter stated that the Fact-Finding group of experts allegedly did not provide materials on the squad of sit strike on March 1, 2008.
Police brought down a peaceful rally in the Republic Square early on March 1, 2008. In the clash 10 people died and thousands got injured. RA Parliamentary Ad-hoc Committee probing into the events failed to disclose the circumstances of the case. On September 17, 2009 reporting to the Parliament, Nikoyan laid the blame on the opposition.
