YEREVAN. – Today is an important day for everyone because Yerevan will have new leadership tomorrow, candidate from “Yerevan Residents” alliance Ararat Zurabyan told reporters.
Zurabyan said elections are unprecedented as there are no people who could be met during the previous elections.
“The atmosphere is very positive. I believe we will have normal elections, and we will have a real picture of Yerevan,” he added.
As to alerts about the distribution of bribes at the headquarters of Prosperous Armenia party and detention of activists, Ararat Zurabyan noted: “I think that the police should be more attentive and should not react to unverified alerts. I think it was a misunderstanding, as it is obvious that all political forces realized that there would be no violations. And I am convinced that all political forces in Armenia were guided by this principle.”
When asked which incident he calls a misunderstanding, Ararat Zurabyan noted that there were speculations that police arrived at headquarters of some parties.
“In the end, nothing was found, but there were elements, attempts to mar the atmosphere. I wish there were no such things at all. At least for us it is obvious that in these elections there are no mechanisms that operated during the previous elections,” the candidate said.
Yerevan residents are electing the members of the Council of Elders and the future mayor of Yerevan.
