YEREVAN. – The National Assembly (NA) of Armenia on Friday will convene a special session; the government has made this decision at Thursday’s Cabinet meeting.

Solely one matter will be on the agenda of this NA session: making an addition to the law on holidays and memorial days in Armenia.

In this connection, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan noted that the days of La Francophonie will kick off in the country on Sunday, and therefore October 11 and 12 will need to be declared non-working days; and to do this, as per the PM, an amendment should be made to the aforementioned law.

A need for declaring non-working days arises when important events are held in the country, and which bring together heads of states, or governments. And in order to ensure these officials’ safety and appropriate travel in the country, usually there is a need to close off some main streets; this, however, causes inconveniences for people because traffic becomes heavy.
