YEREVAN. – If Armenian PM resigns and the factions nominate no candidates, we will have to hold snap parliamentary vote, deputy speaker of the parliament Eduard Sharmazanov told reporters on Friday.

When asked whether a party is for or against the snap elections, it is better to ask whether they are ready for dissolution of the parliament or constitutional amendments voiced by Pashinyan at the August 17 rally, said Sharmazanov, who is also a spokesperson for the former ruling Republican Party of Armenia.

“I think there is hardly any faction, except for Yelq bloc which believes that the parliament should go to self-dissolution. As for the option when Pashinyan resigns, and he has the right to do so, let it happen, we’ll discuss everything and we’ll see,” he said.

Sharmazanov added that after the victory of Pashinyan-supported candidate Hayk Marutyan during the Yerevan municipal elections, PM decided that “he has 80 percent and it is good for him” and he will have “100%-controlled parliament” with a couple of representatives of the puppet opposition.
