Gagik Tsarukyan was reelected chairman of the Prosperous Armenia Party at party’s fifth congress held in Yerevan today. A 206-member political council was elected as well.

Addressing the delegates, Tsarukyan said, “All have expected a surprise from this congress, but in vain. As soon as I realize I fail to perform my duties as a leader, I will convene an extraordinary congress to announce my resignation, then it will be a real surprise.”

Tsarukyan stressed party’s deeds, ideas and programs should never be at variance. “We have assumed responsibility towards people and the state. We will adhere to our principles and deeds,” he said. Leader of the Prosperous Armenia Party stressed no one has the right to betray people’s trust.

According to Tsarukyan, people go into opposition if they are not appreciated. “Nowadays people feel unprotected, meanwhile equal conditions must be created for all,” he concluded.
