Armenian National Security Service's units carried out twice as many measures to prevent the illegal crossing of the Armenian state border in 2018,  Armenia's National Security Service director Artur Vanetsyan said on Thursday.

His remark came at the ceremonial meeting dedicated to the Day of the security agencies’ employee and the 100th anniversary of the creation of the security agencies.

Touching upon corruption issue, the NSS director noted that a number of corruption schemes have been revealed, about seven dozen criminal cases have been initiated, the perpetrators have been brought to justice, with the damage reaching ten billion drams.

“It is unacceptable to steal from the army, and the National Security Service will fight it by all forces,” Vanetsyan said.

He recalled criminal cases on the illegal defense of weapons, as 130 people were detained and arrested, including high-ranking officials and deputies.

The fight against extremism, terrorism, and cybercrime continues. For 11 months of 2018, the relevant units repulsed over three million attacks on the Armenian state websites.
