YEREVAN. – All the arguments that there are obstacles can no longer serve as a basis for the new Armenian authorities not to fulfill their promises.

Sergey Bagratyan, a member of the Prosperous Armenia Party faction at the newly elected National Assembly, stated about the aforementioned at a press conference on Saturday.

“We will see to it that all these promises given are fulfilled,” the MP added. “Also, the time that was given [to the new authorities] has already run out. It should be proved—with solely practical relations—that the newly elected power is truly capable of surmounting all the problems facing the country.

In Bagratyan’s view, a strong opposition has been formed in the new Armenian parliament, and this opposition will soon show its unique “face” to the public.

“It’s meaningless expectations that there is no longer an opposition [in the legislature]; we will closely follow the authorities’ work,” the PAP lawmaker said. “We, naturally, can’t oppose wherever our platform provisions will coincide. But on the provisions that will be promised [by the authorities] and not be fulfilled, we will use those legislative opportunities—and, also, the parliamentary oversight function—and enter the arena of oppositions.”
