The Armenian National Congress (ANC) is going to organize a long-term rally on March 1, Levon Zurabyan, ANC Coordinator, told journalists February 25. That day the ANC and the other opposition forces will prove to the authorities that what happened on March 1, 2008, will never happen again. During the rally, "a clear message will be addressed to the authorities - the people will adequately respond to any violence on the authorities` part."
According to Zurabyan, the importance of the March 1 rally is that it will overlap the revolutions in the Arab world. "We see now that the developments have created a new international situation. The international community is now realizing that there is no room for murderers and tyrants in the modern world," Zurabyan said. According to him, the same international community was "asleep" when the March 1 events were taking place in Armenia.
So, Zurabyan said, the ANC has for three years struggled in international isolation. He also said that the March 1 rally will be followed by a new season of rallies. April and May is the best period for the authorities to satisfy the ANC`s demands and fix early elections, he said.
