The Armenian Government is elaborating a migration control strategy, RA Minister of Territorial Administration Armen Gevorgyan stated in Parliament.
The strategy envisages the creation of favorable conditions in Armenia, which is supposed to reduce migration. "It particularly envisages the creation of jobs as people primarily leave Armenia to find jobs abroad," Gevorgyan said, responding to the Parliament member of the Armenian Revolutionary Federation Dashnaktsutyun (ARF-D) Lilit Galstyan. The MP pointed out Armenia is the leader in migration rate in the CIS. "If this tendency continues, 200,000 people will leave Armenia, and the country`s population will fall down to 1.5 million in 30 years," Galstyan said.
