Armenian News -NEWS.am held a telephone conversation with Hayko Baghdad, an Istanbul Armenian journalist, who will be nominated in the Turkish parliamentary elections by a majority system.

Baghdad was nominated by the Kurdish Peace and Democracy party. Bagdad confirmed that he would run in the second constituency and hoped he would win the elections.

As reported previously, some intellectuals from Istanbul met with the leader of the Kurdish Peace and Democracy Selahattin Demirtas and offered to nominate Hayko Baghdad to the second electoral district. Demirtas approved the idea and included the issue on the agenda of the party council. The party decided to nominate not only Armenians, but also other representatives of other ethnic groups in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Commenting on the question what issues he will raise, if he enters the parliament, Baghdad said: “It should be remembered I am representative of the socialist direction and I will introduce my views in the parliament.” He also stressed that it is very important to raise the Armenian issue in the Turkish Parliament. As for the discussion Karabakh issue, Bagdad noted that he will do his utmost for Karabakh problem not to affect to Armenian-Turkish rapprochement.
