French Foreign Minister Alain Juppe said foreign ministers of G8 states have not decided on possible military intervention to Libya, RIA Novosti reports.

Juppe stressed he failed to persuade the foreign ministers in necessity of intervention. However, the G8 foreign ministers agreed to hold a debate in the UN Security Council to adopt a resolution enabling to mount pressure on Libya’s leadership.

As Armenian News-NEWS.am last week France announced it would be the first state to recognize the rebel Libyan National Council as the country’s legitimate representative. Official Paris said it would send its ambassador to Benghazi and receive a Libyan envoy in Paris.

Later Libya suspended diplomatic relations with France.
