“Our protests are aimed at revealing threats of Armenia-Turkey Protocols for the society,” the Head of Hay Dat (Armenian Cause) Office Giro Manoyan said in Azdak club. According to him, the Protocols as well as the negotiation process satisfies all preconditions initially laid down on Armenia by Turkey. Under one of the preconditions, Armenia should state it reaffirms the Treaty of Kars and puts forward no territorial claims against Turkey.
“As per the Protocols, Armenia and Turkey recognize the present borders. Turkey entirely realizes illegality of the borders, thus since 1991 demands that Armenian side recognizes their validity. To date not a single Armenian Government agreed to the point in the Protocols that we do today,” he said, underlining this is the first precondition to satisfy Turkey, whereas the second is to abandon the international recognition of the Genocide.
“The historians’ sub-commission will be used by Turkey to prevent the international recognition of the Genocide,” Manoyan pointed out. “The third precondition is that Karabakhi conflict should be settled to Azerbaijan’s benefit, as Turkish authorities state the Protocols will not be signed until Karabakh conflict is settled,” he concluded.
