“Initiating the meetings with Diaspora representatives on Armenia-Turkey Protocols, Serzh Sargsyan seeks to create the illusion of discussions that were held during the Yerevan meetings with parties’ leaders,” oppositional Heritage faction MP Larisa Alaverdyan told NEWS.am. According to her, “Though there were no changes after the meeting amid public, it should be noted that the President met with more than 5 dozens of leaders and all agreed with him. The same scenario will be applied to Diaspora.”

Asked, Diaspora seriously protests against Armenia-Turkey Protocols, and whether Sargsyan would succeed in doing same as in Armenia, Alaverdyan replied: “If there is a threat, the similar positions and Diaspora’s resistance would be considered. To date our authorities are keener to accept the position voiced by international community and Diaspora in particular, than those of local political forces.”

President’s initiative is implemented either formally, or “if there is a deep concern, responsibility for the actions can be shifted not only on National Assembly, but also Armenian people on the whole,” MP concluded.
