Armenian community of Lebanon is a heart and sole of the Diaspora and current attempts to move the capital from Beirut are immoral, Lebanese Parliament MP for Armenian community, Social-Democrat Hunchakian Party Sepuh Kalpakian said at the press conference.

“Despite 100 000 Armenians instead of previous 300 000 remained in Lebanon as a result of lasting hostility, it is still the most active community. They are being bound up in Armenian people as there are no restrictions for the ethnic minorities living in Lebanon,” the MP stated. Unlike other countries there is freedom of religion, Armenian schools and cultural centers are functioning.

MP underlined that he did not encounter the benefit of the Diaspora Ministry in Armenia. He also complained about the high prices for Yerevan-Beirut flights and called on the competent bodies to devote attention to the matter.
