Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi will stand trial on Wednesday on charges of paying for sex with underage and abuse of power.
Berlusconi faced allegations for having sex with Ruby, a 17-old belly dancer, but denies any connection. The prosecutors also accuse him of abuse of power, as he was trying to seek Ruby’s release when she was charged with theft.
Prosecutors say they have more than hundred witnesses. The list of witnesses named by Berlusconi’s lawyers includes Italian ministers and Hollywood celebrity George Clooney.
Berlusconi will not be present at the first hearing. The Italian PM will visit L’Aquila on the occasion of the second anniversary of devastating earthquake.
