One gets the impression that the case against third President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan was instituted to take his passport and not allow him to leave the country. This is what political technologist Armen Badalyan told journalists today.

According to him, it is likely that the case was instituted after Sargsyan’s speech in Zagreb in which he expressed the thought that power was transferred to the candidate who was under the former government’s protection, but no progress has been made since transfer of power.

“Besides, Serzh Sargsyan also talked about arrests, meaning some agreements were breached. However, what are those agreements?” Badalyan stated.

The analyst stated that the second President of Armenia and other ex-officials are under the case of overthrow of constitutional order, but Serzh Sargsyan, who was holding the position of Prime Minister back then, hasn’t been engaged in the case.

“It is also worth mentioning that it was recently announced that Serzh Sargsyan’s nephew, Narek Sargsyan was found in the Czech Republic, but why is there no information about the case of embezzlement of Sargsyan’s other nephew? Why didn’t the Republican Party of Armenia demand a recount of the ballots after the parliamentary elections in 2018, especially since the political party was declaring that there were violations?”

Badalyan also noted that the opposition would talk about the fact that Serzh Sargsyan’s brother, Alexander Sargsyan was robbing the country, but later it became clear that there were no facts to prove this. He added that if Sargsyan had nominated Karen Karapetyan or Vigen Sargsyan to be Prime Minister, there wouldn’t be any revolution.
