make preferableYEREVAN. – We will dispute the lawfulness of my detention. Davit Apoyan, President of the Yerevan State University (YSU) Student Council, said this in a conversation with journalists today.
"The issue is that someone linked to the Student Council had a secondary or tertiary importance to the incident," he said. “And I present that different people come to the Student Council every day, go out, you can't have information on everyone; first, you don't have. I presented that I didn't know. Sometime later, one of the law enforcement officers came out, came in, and they said, 'We need to detain you.' That was bizarre to me. I asked them on what grounds were they detaining me. ‘Please show me ant decision example;’ they didn't show anything. I called the lawyer, he said there was no problem, we would go at 2[pm] and be present. I told them we were ready to come in at 2, but they detained me like that.”
Apoyan stressed that being detained in this manner was very insulting. "The Student Council president should not have been detained like that," he said. “It was an insulting behavior, especially when I say I will come. It's just ridiculous. They are calling because I am the Student Council president? So if I have a connection with the domain, should I go as a witness? "
Apoyan also said that he was initially detained as a suspect, but then he was interviewed as a witness.
