Petros Petrosyan, prosecutor for the case of second President of Armenia Robert Kocharyan, refused to comment on the commentaries regarding the ongoing investigation into the case of the events of March 1, 2008.

Petrosyan told reporters that the investigation is underway and that he can’t report anything at the moment. In response to a question about the mass media’s press releases regarding testimonies under the case, the prosecutor stated that this is a subject to be investigated.

Commenting on the first instance court’s decision that may provide lawyers with the opportunity to become familiar with the case materials and when asked why the prosecutor doesn’t agree with the lawyers’ opinion that the case materials can be considered behind closed doors in case of need, Petrosyan declared that the rights of the accused-on-trial are not limited, the law regulates the procedure and that everything has to be done to make sure the case materials remain confidential in the particular stage.
